Kronos managed Catholic Healthcare Trust's time, attendance and scheduling. Syntra ETL archived ten years of Kronos timekeeping and labor data into the Oracle Autonomous (ATP) archive, with APEX and Power BI reporting, so wage-and-hour, audit and insurance queries can be answered after the system was retired.
Kronos held time, attendance and labor records — the evidence for wage-and-hour compliance, labor audits, and workers'-comp/insurance and legal queries.
Kronos was CHT's workforce-management system for timekeeping, scheduling and labor tracking. Timecards, worked hours, accruals and labor distribution are central to wage-and-hour compliance and are frequently requested in labor audits, workers'-compensation claims and employment litigation — with multi-year retention.
Ten years of Kronos data was archived into the Oracle ATP archive as part of the five-system project (~8 TB, ~150,000 attachments total), letting CHT retire Kronos while keeping the records searchable and reportable.
Retiring Kronos came with real data-engineering challenges.
The source systems were out of vendor support — raising security, compliance and continuity risk. Archiving and decommissioning removed that risk.
Minimal documentation survived and few functional users remained who understood the applications, so we reverse-engineered the data model and validated it with the business.
We connected directly to the Kronos SQL database to extract timekeeping, accrual and labor history in full.
Ten years of records, consolidated into the Oracle ATP archive.
Clock punches, edits and timecard history.
Historical schedules and shift assignments.
PTO/leave balances and accrual history.
Regular, overtime and premium hours.
Labor allocation by department/cost center.
Records feeding payroll where in scope.
A governed sequence — completed and live in production.
Profiled the Kronos source and finalized the ten-year archival record set — tables, fields and attachments in scope.
Extracted ten years of Kronos history from the source, including documents/attachments, and standardized it for the archive.
Loaded the data into the consolidated Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP) archival database.
Built the 15–20 most-used Kronos reports in Oracle APEX and Microsoft Power BI for daily business needs.
Validated the archived Kronos data against source, deployed with role-based access and audit logging, and went live in production.
Retained a complete backup of the original data on the cloud, and provided ongoing Syntra support for any query.
What Catholic Healthcare Trust staff use every day.
Timecard-history and worked-hours reports for wage-and-hour queries.
PTO/leave and accrual-balance reports.
Overtime and labor-by-department reports.
Staff search and browse the archived records themselves in the Oracle APEX portal, with filters and Excel/PDF export.
A full backup of the original source data is retained on the cloud, in addition to the archive.
Syntra provides ongoing support for any query on the archived data, if and when one arises.
Ten years of Kronos timekeeping, accrual and labor data was archived to support wage-and-hour, audit and insurance retention, searchable in the Oracle ATP archive.
Yes — timecards, worked hours, overtime and accruals are archived and reportable via APEX and Power BI, so HR and legal can respond to wage-and-hour, labor-audit and workers'-compensation/insurance queries without Kronos.
15–20 of the most-used Kronos reports were built for daily business use — timecard/hours, accrual and labor/overtime reports.
