    Infinium ran Catholic Healthcare Trust's HR, payroll and core financials (on IBM i). Syntra ETL archived ten years of Infinium history into a consolidated Oracle Autonomous (ATP) database, with Oracle APEX and Microsoft Power BI reporting, so payroll, GL and HR records stay available for legal, audit and insurance queries long after the system was switched off.

    Why Infinium data had to be archived

    Infinium held some of CHT's longest-retention records — payroll, general ledger and HR — the kind that must be produced years later for tax, audit, legal and insurance requests.

    Infinium (an Infor ERP/HRMS platform, commonly run on IBM i) was CHT's system of record for HR, payroll and core financials. Payroll registers, W-2 data, GL detail and employee service history carry multi-year retention obligations under IRS, wage-and-hour, SOX and state rules — exactly what auditors, attorneys and insurers request.

    Rather than keep Infinium and its IBM i infrastructure running just to answer occasional requests, CHT archived ten years of Infinium data into the new Oracle ATP archive — part of a five-system effort totalling approximately 8 TB of data and around 150,000 attachments.

    Challenges we solved

    Retiring Infinium came with real data-engineering challenges.

    End-of-life applications

    The source systems were out of vendor support — raising security, compliance and continuity risk. Archiving and decommissioning removed that risk.

    Little documentation, few users left

    Minimal documentation survived and few functional users remained who understood the applications, so we reverse-engineered the data model and validated it with the business.

    Direct IBM i (AS/400) access

    Infinium ran on IBM i (AS/400) with no modern API, so we connected directly to the underlying database to extract the full history.

    Some applications hadn't been updated since 2007/2008 — dated formats, encodings and structures that required careful handling.
